Importantly for a veterinary practice on the south coast, we are able to help your pet qualify for the Pet Travel Scheme.
If you plan to holiday abroad with your pet to a country that qualifies for the Pet Travel Scheme, please contact us at least eight months in advance of your expected departure date to give us the best chance of qualifying in time for your travels.
Your pet will need to be microchipped, vaccinated against Rabies, and blood tested three weeks later to ensure the Rabies vaccine has been successful. A pet passport can then be issued. You will need to wait for 6 months from the time of the blood test before you can re-enter Britain having been abroad to a Pet Travel Scheme Qualifying Country.
For further details about the pet travel scheme and qualifying countries, please visit the Defra Website.
By having two Official Veterinarians (OVs) at the practice we are also able to help with the documentation and certification of cats and dogs for export to other countries. For more details or advice on export you may either contact the practice to speak to one of the vets or refer to the Defra Website.
