Puppies are vaccinated against Distemper, Infectious Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Leptospirosis and Parainfluenza. Vaccinations are started from eight weeks of age in puppies and until your pup has its full primary course of vaccinations, it will be at risk from these diseases.
Kittens are vaccinated against Cat Flu, Infectious enteritis and Feline Leukaemia from nine weeks of age.
Rabbits require vaccination against Myxomatosis from six weeks of age, every six months. Myxomatosis is an unpleasant disease caused by a virus carried by the rabbit flea and mosquitos. All rabbits, including indoor house rabbits, are prone to contracting the virus and we strongly recommend vaccination every six months to prevent infection from this deadly virus. Vaccination against VHD (Viral Haemorrhagic Disease) is also recommended from 10 weeks of age.
Annual booster vaccinations are recommended for adult cats and dogs to maintain immunity. Adult rabbits require six monthly Myxomatosis boosters and annual VHD jabs. A full health check is performed at the time of vaccination and this is an ideal opportunity to ask any questions concerning the health and welfare of your companion.
Kennel Cough - we do not routinely give the intranasal vaccine to protect against kennel cough (Bordetella and Parainfluenza) however, it is now a requirement for going into a boarding kennel, and strongly recommended if your dog is attending a dog show or is at risk of contracting kennel cough. We would recommend vaccination at least 72 hours prior to expected exposure. This vaccine lasts 12 months.
